AS LONG AS WE ARE BREATHING, THERE IS HOPE!
As we enter a new year, look for ways to help the addict in your life. While "help" comes in many forms, it starts with humility and accountability. If your addict has no reason to to be humble or accountable, why should he/she change?
THIS IS WHAT HOPE LOOKS LIKE AND WHERE CHANGE HAPPENS!
SDG is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals struggling with addiction. Through regular meetings, accountability reviews, and consistent behavioral modeling, we help others learn the necessary skills to effectively transition to life beyond addiction.
We offer FREE Peer Recovery Coaching and Services to individuals in Culpeper, Fauquier, Rappahannock, Madison, and Orange counties of Virginia. We are a fully volunteer run organization and our services are solely funded through grants, donations and community support.
Peer Recovery Coaching is a proven solutions-driven approach, and at SDG we are committed to reducing drug addiction and its effects and costs on those addicted, their families, and the community at large.
By modeling replacement not just abstention, we help clients find healthy replacements for their destructive addiction. We also help our clients find and access community resources that are available to help them transition back into a life of normalcy.
What It Takes
Addiction is a powerful and cunning enemy. Most of us can not beat it alone. More importantly, for an addict, living a life without drugs or alcohol takes work; a lot of work.
Living a clean and sober life is more than avoiding drug and drink, it is a daily surrender to something bigger than yourself. A higher power. God.
I am not talking about religion, I am talking about spirituality. Having a personal relationship with a God that wants you to succeed. A Higher Power that only wants good for you.
If you're not sure how that works, or what that looks like, please reach out to me. I will gladly tell you about my Higher Power, Jesus Christ.
